I’m pleased to announce I have a new album coming out in May this year called ‘Summit of the big low’ and all sorts of stuff relating to it has just gone live on my new Ko-fi shop. We’ve just added limited edition signed and numbered poster prints featuring album artwork illustrations by Lucy Pook, CDs, T-shirts and brand new membership tiers. A lyric video for album track Tightrope has just gone live on YouTube. The video was created blending footage from a live streamed performance at the Tunbridge Wells Forum for Local & Live music festival with retro television photography mined from Unsplash. The video focuses on the songs lyrical content of isolation and heady escape.

I’m also thrilled to announce the record will be available on ltd. edition vinyl (my first ever release on the good stuff!) thanks to the top folk at Sugarbush Records, and there are a limited number of collectable handmade and numbered CDs available too.

The newly announced album is preceded by its title track, available from today as a single and for which an award winning 360° video has been created. Depicting an intimate glimpse into a relationship at a crucial turning point, it won three Remi awards at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in Texas, in the New Artist, Performance Arts Film and Live Action Experimental Film categories. Having already been selected for the Aesthetica Short Film festival, it is also currently screening at the Plymouth Market Hall Dome, Europe’s first planetarium style cinema space made specifically for viewing 360° shows. Tickets can be booked here.

The video was created as a collaborative multi-discipline experiment between Summit Of The Big Low, production company Khaki Films and movement storytellers No-One’s Watching, with the intention of utilising the languages of music and movement to explore the potential of storytelling in 360° and to embrace the immersive experience.

Once again produced by my good friends Bombay Monkey and mastered by Leigh Dawson at Unstudios, Cargo is the most collaborative EP released so far, with beautiful musicianship from Andrew Organ, Dominic Keshavarz and vocals from Dave Tonkinsmith, Andy White and my sister Cydney Uffindell-Phillips.

The lead track ‘Cargo’ is joined by two new tracks, Let Me Sleep and Parallel Dreaming.

The EP was created alongside my good friends Bombay Monkey who arranged, mixed and produced the tracks and then passed on to Leigh at Unstudios for mastering.

The lead track ‘Clear’ is joined by two new tracks:

Slight Drop - an instrumental number which was came about when I sent some instrumental bits and pieces to Bombay to see if they sparked any ideas. They came back with this almost unrecognisable atmospheric creation which I loved. An example if ever there was one of the influence they have on the sounds and atmosphere of these tracks.

Drawing Board - is actually a song that has been through the mill several times. It’s been written and rewritten more times than I can count but when we hit upon this summery trip hoppy vibed version it felt like it had found its place next to the other material. This is a track to listen to while driving in the sun (probably the wrong time to release it but hey, blame it on covid).

This evening the official music video for “Clear” premiered on YouTube. I made this video myself, capturing a single shot out of an airplane window on an iPhone as my flight came in to land in snowy Stockholm a year or so back. Yes, air travel! Remember that? I often do this when coming in to land if I manage to get a window seat but nothing generally happens with the footage. However when I watched it back I just knew it would work well with some music. I added some trippy kaleidoscopic touches in the edit and voila… instant music video. I love it when they’re that easy.
