Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what information Summit of the Big Low ("we", "us") collects when you use this website or ask to join the mailing list, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We only ask for what we need, and we never sell your information.
Who we are
Summit of the Big Low is an independent music project. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email [email protected].
What we collect and why
- Mailing list. If you sign up, or ask us to add you when you request a Field Pass, we store your email address (and your name, if you give it) so we can send occasional Field Notes and news. Our mailing list is run through Mailchimp. We keep you on the list until you unsubscribe.
- Field Pass requests. When you request a Field Pass we receive the name, email and support details you enter so we can verify your support and send your pass. We keep these only as long as needed to do that.
- Analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand which pages are visited. This is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
- On your device. The site stores small preferences in your browser's local storage - your light/dark theme choice, and which waymarks you've collected. This never leaves your device and is not personal information we can see.
Cookies and local storage
We keep the site as light on tracking as we can. What's stored falls into two groups:
- Strictly necessary / functional - no consent needed,
and none of it identifies you. Your browser remembers your light/dark theme
choice and the waymarks you've collected (both in local storage, on your
device only). If you enter The Hide, a single sign-in cookie
(
sotbl_fieldpass) keeps you logged in; it holds no personal information and clears when you leave. - Analytics - we use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics to see which pages are visited. If this ever involves optional cookies, we'll ask for your consent first.
You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.
Legal basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent (which you can withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interest in running the project and keeping supporters informed.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the services that make the site work - principally Mailchimp (mailing list) and Google (analytics) - each of which has its own privacy policy. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. To make a request, email [email protected].
Changes
If we update this policy we'll change the date at the top of this page.
